Empty Space

I sit alone here every day,
Thinking of the child you took away.
She was my heart, she was my soul.
She was the thing that made me whole.

I have no hope, I have no faith, I have no energy,
She was the only pride and joy that rose inside of me,
And now there's just an empty space where laughter used to dwell.
My heart has got no purpose now, it's just an empty shell.

As I look at children play, in parks and on the beach,
I think about my biggest loss, the child I cannot reach.
Sometimes I wonder what she thinks when her mind remembers me.
Does she think about the dad she lost, the dad she never sees.

My days are filled with anger, my nights with painful grief.
How I face each day without her is way beyond belief.
Her toys are strewn about the floor, her bed is empty now.
Abandoned like the autumn leaves shaken from the bough.

There's nothing left for me to have but distant memories,
Of the times we had when she was young and full of energy.
I hear her voice inside my head calling out to me.
And when I close my eyes to sleep, her face is all I see.

But deep within the darkness that lives inside of me,
There is a tiny glimmer, a spark that's hard to see.
That spark is just a remnant of the love that is inside
The love which cannot disappear, the love I cannot hide.

My baby

I used to watch you run and play,
those were our best times together.

I always tucked you in at night,
and comforted you during stormy weather.

I used to hold your hand so tight,
before we crossed the street.

And cheered you on with so much pride,
when you said Daddy look at me!

Now Daddy's heart hurts so bad,
not having you around.

Your Daddy misses everything about you,
especially trips to the playground.

But Daddy knows that someday,
we will be together once more.

Because there's nothing stronger than a father's love, missing his baby girl.

Mother

My dear mother unlike any other,

You taught me how to walk,
And you taught me how to talk.
You provided a roof over my head,
And always made sure I was feed.

You taught me morals and standards,
The meanings of living and all about giving.
What a wonderful, beautiful, thoughtful intelligent mother I have,
And you make me truly glad.

You always go out of your way for everyone each day.
You always listen to what I say even if I'm having a bad day.
Whenever I've had issues
You have always been my tissues.

You always hugged me tight
And loved me with all your might.
You were always there for me when I needed someone.
I'm so very thankful to have a mother like you,
With your kindness and all that you do.

All these words are perfectly true,
And mother, I love you.
You are a mother unlike any other.
A little poem I wrote for you to let you know
I love you and appreciate you every day
In every single way.

Relationship

You are my best friend and brother
Even if we are not blood related
Even if there's no paper or information on a computer
Saying we are.
You're still my brother,
Because it is a bond
That is rare
Special in its own way,
That took time to build,
And no matter what people say or do
You're still my brother,
Since the day we first met
It was a friendship that was just meant to be,
We were inseparable.
Through time
We have had fights,
Did things that we may not have agreed with,
But no matter what happens
you will always be my brother,
you're someone I know will always be there,
And I will always be there for you,
And if the day comes
When we do go our separate ways,
You my brother,
My friend, will always be in my heart,
Because you have changed my life in so many ways,
Gave a friendship that happens very few times in someone's life,
And
I want to say thank you, and that I love you
Forever and always,
My brother.

Our Love So Beautiful

Sweetheart, have you ever thought about how beautiful our relationship is?

I wonder if it is possible for couples to be like us
So open to each other
Having nothing to hide
Honest
No fear but only respect for each other
Accepting unconditionally
Loving without a break
Anger that vanishes in a kiss, sometimes in just a touch
Expressing love even when there is no understanding
Trust to the core
Enjoying the togetherness
Encouraging the uniqueness
Desiring to live long together
So playful
So naughty
So cute
So loving
So caring
So romantic
Never I
Always US.

Maybe it's because of the path our relationship had taken
Genuine affection drew us to each other
We respected each other
Friendship took over and made our bond stronger
We loved each other's company,
Had no expectations from each other
Our respect and friendship paved way to trust
Trust made us share our secrets, our real selves
By sharing, we exchanged our hearts, our lives
And our love
And God blessed and approved our love
Because He had made us for each other.

Our love is a mixture of all relationships... which makes us so unique.

Darling, we are so beautiful!

Angin ditiup sudah kering skrg di buatnya...

Jerebu pun dah singgap dtg..
Hanya hati yg sayu berkenan

Friendship A New Look

I travelled down a lonely road
Hoping to find a friend,
One in whom I could confide,
And time with me would spend.

Although surrounded by people,
Not one seemed to even care,
For on that lonely road of life,
No friend could I find there.

Then I joined a friendship club,
But their own friends they had,
They seemed to meet in cliques,
Which made me feel quite sad.

Now I had a different thought,
A new direction I would take,
By becoming a friend to someone,
I'm sure a friendship I'd make.

Visiting hospitals and nursing homes,
I was made so welcome there,
Many were longing for a friend,
Now I find friends everywhere.

By becoming interested in others,
Not the interest in you they take,
This is the way to show friendship,
And many true fr

Aging - Times Passes by

I see the sadness in your eyes,
The times that you are knowing
What's happening to your wondrous mind,
The symptoms you are showing.

It was so hard to recognize,
When they started coming through.
The little things that changed you
From the person that I knew.

The doctor's confirmation
Was so hard to accept,
To know that little could be done,
That there's no cure as of yet.

Forgive me, dear, if sometimes
I give in to my frustrations.
It's just so overwhelming,
This change in our relations.

Now I'm the one to be on guard,
To keep you safe from harm,
Protecting you the best I can
And not showing my alarm.

I hope you still can understand
How much you mean to me.
Though you curse me, or forget me,
I'll accept what has to be.

For I will still remember
The joys that we once shared.
You showed me in so many ways
How very much you cared.

I pray to God to give me strength
To do what must be done,
To trust that in the future
This battle will be won.

I LOVE YOU

You look at me as if I'm the only girl around
You make me feel important and never let me down

You've shown me how to live
How to smile, what to say
You've shown me what it's worth
To love someone each and every day

So this poem goes out to you
For everything you've done
And I hope now you understand
That baby, you're the one!

I Love You, Baby!

True Love

When I say I love you, please believe it's true.
When I say forever, know I'll never leave you.
When I say goodbye, promise me you won't cry,
Because the day I'll be saying that will be the day I die.

Love to be or not

A million stars up in the sky
one shines brighter I can't deny

A love so precious a love so true
a love that comes from me to you

The angels sing when you are near
within my arms I have nothing to fear

You always know just what to say
just talking to you makes my day

I love you honey with all of my heart together forever and never to part.

Let It Be

biar rindu melekat tegar
biar senyuman nostalgia berputar
biar kasih utuh tak tertolak

aku lepaskan..
rela lepaskan..
tangis lepaskan..

seolah mimpi diganggu siang
dalam kesedapan ianya berbatas
terhalang oleh yang tak tertolak
pasrah ungkapan
kedu langkah
persis gila

aduhai...

lepaskan saja dia..
lepaskan saja dia...
lepaskan saja dia....
lepaskan saja dia pergi!

My Little Girl

To my little girl
Precious as a pearl
The princess to my heart
We've had our ups and downs
We've even gone a few rounds
No matter what you do
I'll never stop loving you
No matter what people tell you
No matter how far apart we are
No matter what you mum says
No matter how rough life may get
You should always live with no regrets
And now it will not be long
And you, too, will have to be strong
Soon you the little girl will arrive to adulthood
This will make you feel so alive and lots of energy
No more that little fingers, her tiny toes for me to hold and tuck you in bed
That small head sleeps on my arms every night
You are my baby girl with wings and halos
So don't let other people get you down
Just because your skin will be brown
So hold your head high
And walk right on by
Because God and I love you so much
This is our oath!

Bye Bye Love

the poor thing...it howls
audible pain
it thrashes around
trying to regain its feet
but it is broken
but a shadow of what it once was
unrecognizable
painting all around it red with
its own impending doom
I don't know how it still lives
Tears burn my eyes as I realize
I will have to end its misery
because it howls too loud
and tries too hard
and hurts too much
as it dies in my chest
with every thought of you

Love

Love is a walk in the rain at night,
Two hands, holding onto each other tight;
Love is honey on a pair of lips,
Onto a tender heart it drips;
Love is a soft and gentle touch;
Your heart, a child's hand may clutch,
Love is a song that stains the air,
Dead or not, it's always there;
Love is both the sun and moon,
Across the sky, like stars, it's strewn;
Love is a tree of abundant fruit,
Giving and serving with every new shoot;
Love is a document, faithful and strong,
To one another, now do you belong;
Love is a river that rages with passion,
Finding ways to calm pools no matter the fashion.

Mother

My mother
She wiped away my tears
Showed me there's nothing to fear
Always used to boast
When she held me close
And always said
I love you

My mother was to me
Someone I could never be
That's ok
She was she
And I was me
That's ok
Whenever I made a mess
She never loved me less
Only more
If ever she gave me a test
I never really tried my best
I failed
I'm sorry
I loved you more than any know
Even when you didn't give me room to grow
You tried to shield me from the world
Like some great overlord
Thank you
Mom
You wiped away my tears
Showed me there's nothing to fear

Always used to boast
When you held me close
And always used to say
I love you
I'm sorry

Show me there's nothing to fear
Getting to boast
When you hold me close
But I will always say
I love you Mom

Bumps in Life

Sometimes the way gets long
And the sun don't light our way
And it seems that no one listens
To a thing we have to say
Our burdens, they are heavy
Our cross too hard to bear
So we hang our heads in sorrow
Sinking deeper in despair

Its just a little bump in the road
Its not a mountain to climb
Its just a small hill in our path
Its not going to stop us this time
Just a little bump in the road
Its not all darkness we see
It doesn't seem to be so bad
When we are on our knees

Sometimes the tears are many
And you don't know what to do
You can't make it another step
Life's takes its toll on you
You are so tired of marching
Just to never reach the top
And everything inside of you
Is telling you to stop

Its just another bump in the road
Its not a mountain to climb
Its just a small hill in our path
Its not going to stop us this time
Just a little bump in the road
Its not all darkness we see
It doesn't seem quite so bad
When we are on our knees

To My Self - Failure is Pending Success

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twist and its turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When they might have won, had stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a fain and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse that you must not quit!

Start Where You Stand

A good motivational poem about leaving the past behind and looking to the future today.

Start where you stand and never mind the past;

The past won't help you in beginning new,

If you have left it all behind at last

Why that's enough, you're done with it, you're through;

This is another chapter in the book,

This is another race that you have planned,

Don't give the vanished days a backwards look,

Start where you stand.

The world won't care about your old defeats

If you can start anew and win success;

The future is your time, and time is fleet

And there is much of work and strain and stress;

Forget the buried woes and dead despairs,

Here is a brand-new trial right at hand,

The future is for him who does and dares,

Start where you stand.

Old failures will not hald, old triumphs aid,

To-day's the thing, tomorrow will soon be;

Get in the fight, and face it unafraid,

And leave the past to ancient history.

What has been has been; yesterday is dead

And by it, you are neither blessed or banned;

Take courage, man, be brave and drive ahead,

Start where you stand.

This Year Is Yours

New Year's or for anytime you decide to make a fresh start. It's amazing what you can accomplish in a year's time when you really try.

God built and launched thisyear for you;

Upon the bridge you stand;

It's your ship, aye, your own ship,

And you are in command.

Just what the twelve months' trip will do

Rests wholly, solely, friend, with you.

Your logbook kept from day to day

My friend, what will it show?

Have you on your appointed way

Made progress, yes or no?

The log will tell, like guiding star,

The sort of captain that you are.

For weal or woe this year is yours;

Your ship is on life's sea

Your acts, as captain, must decide

Whichever it shall be;

So now in starting on your trip,

Ask God to help you sail your ship.

Yesterdays Doors

Shutting the door on yesterday opens your mind and spirit up for today!

I’ve shut the door on Yesterday,

It's sorrows and mistakes.

I’ve locked within its gloomy walls

Past failures and heartaches.

And now I throw the key away,

To seek another room,

And furnish it with hope and smiles

And every springtime bloom.

No thought shall enter this Abode

That has a hint of pain;

And envy, malice and distrust

Shall never entrance gain.

I’ve shut the door on Yesterday

And thrown the key away -

Tomorrow holds no fear for me

Since I have found Today.

A New Day

We never know what life has in store for us. A new day brings new hopes and new dreams.

If life seems at its lowest ebb,

Because a day's gone wrong.

Let not your heart be troubled,

For a new day soon will dawn

And we can never be quite sure,

Just what it has in store.

Since each one is so different,

Than the one just gone before

As it penetrates the darkness,

With its soft and tranquil beams.

It calms even the most restless soul,

And brings new hopes and dreams

So when a days been troubled,

And the night is dark and long.

Lift up your fallen spirits,

For a new day soon will dawn

Rise Above

The world is full of people,
Content to be what they are
Who never know the joy of success;
They lack the will to go that far.

Yet in this world there is a need,
For some to lead the rest
To rise above the average life,
By giving of their best.

Are you the one who dares,
To try when challenged by the task
To rise to heights you've never dreamed,
Or is that too much to ask?

This can be your year,
For great purpose to achieve
If you accept the challenge,
And in yourself believe.

Another Chance

often we wish for another chance
To make a fresh beginning.
A chance to blot out our mistakes
And change failure into winning.

It does not take a new day
To make a brand new start,
It only takes a deep desire
To try with all our heart.

To live a little better
And to always be forgiving
And to add a little sunshine
To the world in which we're living.

So never give up in despair
And think that you are through,
For there's always a tomorrow
And the hope of starting new.

Sunday

This is the day
when we get up late
we sleep even after the sun is up
when we dont have to run through the morning hours,
when we have a leisurely tea and
sometimes even skip our breakfast
to have a brunch

This is the day
when we read the newspapers line by line,
or glance through the classified column,
tune to the news channels to get a glimpse of news..

This is the day
when we clean our vehicles
when we clean our homes..
when we have an afternoon nap

This is the day
which goes so fast..
It is over before we realize
Where time runs so fast ..

This is the day
When the kitchen switches to a more active zone
When the kids sleep till they want..
when the plants in the house get some new life

This is also the day
Which precedes the weak to follow
Which crawls till the Saturday next..
The end of a week as well as the beginning...

This is Sunday...

Life

was the sunshine that cradled your day

that tried to push the clouds away
I was the sand that ran between your toes
when you were four years old
that soon became the rain you danced in
from seven to eleven
And I watched you grow in the glow
of a moon that beamed
when you turned thirteen
How unfair you thought I'd become
when you turned twenty-one
because you lost a few dreams
But I stayed awake when you were out late
I was the stars 'till you turned twenty-eight
And when you found your love
"the one"
I was glimmer in the eye, the blue sky, the sun
Then you turned thirty-one
I became cloud, thunder and shower
there weren't enough minutes to put in your hour
You forgot how to dance in the rain
'till you turned forty all you did was complain
Then you took off your shoes
and went back to the sand
I was now the warmth of your child's hand
At forty-three
you spent more time with me
You began
to understand
And when you stood fifty years old
you stayed warm to me even though
at times I was cold
How close we grew
when you turned sixty-two
The breeze was I
that hung your grandchild's kite in the sky
And I'm sorry I made you sad
when I took "the one" away
But I was proud
when you pushed aside that cloud
and cradled 'me' in the sun
for the remainder of our lives...

The Journey

Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, celebrations and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our destination, our purpose in life. The road will not always be smooth; in fact, throughout our travels, we will encounter many challenges.

Some of these challenges will test our courage, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. Along the way, we may stumble upon obstacles that will come between the paths that we are destined to take. In order to follow the right path, we must overcome these obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles are really blessings in disguise, only we don't realize that at the time.

Along our journey we will be confronted with many situations, some will be filled with joy, and some will be filled with heartache. How we react to what we are faced with determines what kind of outcome the rest of our journey through life will be like.

When things don't always go our way, we have two choices in dealing with the situations. We can focus on the fact that things didn't go how we had hoped they would and let life pass us by, or two, we can make the best out of the situation and know that these are only temporary setbacks and find the lessons that are to be learned.

Time stops for no one, and if we allow ourselves to focus on the negative we might miss out on some really amazing things that life has to offer. We can't go back to the past, we can only take the lessons that we have learned and the experiences that we have gained from it and move on. It is because of the heartaches, as well as the hardships, that in the end help to make us a stronger person.

The people that we meet on our journey, are people that we are destined to meet. Everybody comes into our lives for some reason or another and we don't always know their purpose until it is too late. They all play some kind of role. Some may stay for a lifetime; others may only stay for a short while.

It is often the people who stay for only a short time that end up making a lasting impression not only in our lives, but in our hearts as well. Although we may not realize it at the time, they will make a difference and change our lives in a way we never could imagine. To think that one person can have such a profound affect on your life forever is truly a blessing. It is because of these encounters that we learn some of life's best lessons and sometimes we even learn a little bit about ourselves.

People will come and go into our lives quickly, but sometimes we are lucky to meet that one special person that will stay in our hearts forever no matter what. Even though we may not always end up being with that person and they may not always stay in our life for as long as we like, the lessons that we have learned from them and the experiences that we have gained from meeting that person, will stay with us forever.

It's these things that will give us strength to continue on with our journey. We know that we can always look back on those times of our past and know that because of that one individual, we are who we are and we can remember the wonderful moments that we have shared with that person.

Memories are priceless treasures that we can cherish forever in our hearts. They also enables us to continue on with our journey for whatever life has in store for us. Sometimes all it takes is one special person to help us look inside ourselves and find a whole different person that we never knew existed. Our eyes are suddenly opened to a world we never knew existed- a world where time is so precious and moments never seem to last long enough.

Throughout this adventure, people will give you advice and insights on how to live your life but when it all comes down to it, you must always do what you feel is right. Always follow your heart, and most importantly never have any regrets. Don't hold anything back. Say what you want to say, and do what you want to do, because sometimes we don't get a second chance to say or do what we should have the first time around.

It is often said that what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. It all depends on how one defines the word "strong" It can have different meanings to different people. In this sense, "stronger" means looking back at the person you were and comparing it to the person you have become today. It also means looking deep into your soul and realizing that the person you are today couldn't exist if it weren't for the things that have happened in the past or for the people that you have met. Everything that happens in our life happens for a reason and sometimes that means we must face heartaches in order to experience joy.

A Life Observed

Of cells too small to see,
Did you create uniqueness
And make a plan for me?

And do you watch my struggles
Observe each rise and fall,
Is it your hand that holds me
And brings me through it all?

Have I a single secret
A deed, a word, a thought,
That can be undetected,
Unknown, unseen, unsought?

Such knowledge overwhelms me,
There’s nothing I can say
But ‘Search me, know me, test me,
And lead me in your way.’

Only Steps

Only steps which are Spirit born
will in the last day chime.
They burst forth from hearts that mourn
to glorify our God, sublime.

Steps not bathed in god’s blood
will only lead to fruits of flood.
Only can reach within
And change those steps once wrote by sin.

Down Life Paths

Many go down life's path with lofty plans
To amass a great fortune of houses and lands
And to live a life of pleasure and ease,
Thinking happiness can be found in these.

Others pursue power and worldwide fame
To be known by all and win their acclaim.
But those without God who attain these goals
Soon find emptiness remains in their souls.

They couldn’t find the happiness they sought
For it comes from Him and can‘t be bought.
If only they realized these things won't last
Since life is fleeting and will soon be past.

Wealth, worldly pleasure, fame, and power
Will all be gone at death's dark hour.
And beyond the grave when eternity begins
Those unsaved will be judged for their sins.

If only they would believe in God's Son
And repent of the sinful deeds they've done,
Then they could go down life's path
Not needing to worry about God's wrath.

They would have the joy they longed for,
Inner peace, contentment, and much more
For when their lives on earth shall end
Heavenly bliss would at once begin!

Conscience

bombed out and desolate
darkened stone walls
a man walks deep below
dripping tunnels
colorless; blue-black-grey
he opens his mouth to speak
silver sparks fly from his lips
illuminating the dank and mist-filled catacomb
silver and stark white, falling down around him
shards of golden light flicker through the tunnel
falling like raindrops to sizzle on the cracked floor
the golden light burnishes the cracked edges of broken stone
the silver sparks in white mist hanging in the dead air
the breath of hope
darkness ahead, a breathing blackness
the man's slight form surrounded by silver and gold
he walks forever
the catacomb stretching endlessly before him
as sparks rain down

Journey

journey of life  is a serpentine path
with twists and turns, and milestones
passing through varied terrains, depths and altitudes
stages from cradle to gravestone

journey of love is a saga of conflicts,
musical odyssey sojourned, with smiles and tears
strung together in a parody of melodious moments

journey of the sun over celestial expanse
is an arc of light, from the rising dawn to dusk,
painting dancing silhouettes, showering molten gold,
licking dewdrops, rejuvenating lotuses and sunflowers

journey of flowing gentle river-
emerging from a glacier's frozen lips, as a waterfall
flowing on bosom of plains, as boon of fertility
overflowing its dams in rage, to bring ruin as flood
lastly mingling in vastness of the sea to lose itself.

journey of a flower from an unfurled bud,
within curled green palm of calyx
to a blooming blossom crowning a stalk,
spreading fragrance and endowing nectar of reticulate veins
withering away on its throne or being plucked,
to lie in homage at feet of deities in a temple
smile in a bouquet with redolence and colors,
to impart loving greetings in mute beauty
to lie as an epitaph of remembrance on a grave.

journey of a pearl from the womb of an oyster,
lying deep into hurling infinity of ocean-
comes out into the world to spread a smile
of alabaster opalescence, in a ring or a necklace-
drop of moonlight or morning dew, made priceless

journey of a kite made from alms of dead trees,
by dexterous fingers with loving care, to fly high above
with a string tied to its tail, it soars high with vagrant wind
trying to caress clouds and to kiss sun's golden lips,
resenting tied cord that limits altitude of its flight
snap of thread lead to its sad demise,
torn into pieces by fangs of callous draught.

journey of raindrop is a cycle, from earth to skies and back
moisture as vapour forms floating clouds,
condensed into raindrops in cottony bosom of smoke
falls to quench thirst of parched earth,
With orchestra of thunder and lightening
rejuvenating leaves and flowers , washing away dust
and leaves at last, a dangling rainbow in its wake

The Morning Rise

Drink a cup of tea. Better if you can add cardamoms
and a bit of love. Go out in sunlight. Hug. Hug harder.
There’s always going to be shadow in a sunny world.
Rest sometimes. And while you rest, find a pretty
bird and click a photo. Share it with your grandmother or mother or dad
Before its to late
Before they have left you here
Call them often. Talk. Tell them you look pretty great today.
Ask them how the feel
Visit them n hug them

Whisper. Whisper to yourself when everyone’s loud.
Listen to your inner voice. Express. Express your hopes
and anger. Comfort. Save that person from drowning.

Learn. Learn swimming. Feel. Feel the ocean and its
warmth. Warm your food when it’s cold. Share. Touch
the frosty field outside. Make a snowman. When
he melts, prepare a bed of spring flowers. Pluck a flower
every day and put in your vase. Make a home. Love.
Love unconditionally. Live. Live as if it’s your last chance.

Silence

The pen broke last night
when I asked it to go
wordless.

The night stopped being
scary to hide behind
my colorful dreams.

At the bus stop
A guy covered his face with
a newspaper that said
Silence is healthy for
noisy souls.

The voice in my head
was tired finally
when I did not give
it anything to chew.

A squirrel wants to
ignore me to enjoy
solitude and wild berries.
I want to ignore it too
and breathe in the silence.

Yearning for Love

don’t have to spend time
in the mall, looking for the
perfect candle, and ingredients
of a pot of pasta for two.

You don’t have to buy flowers,
and scribble that unfinished
poem on the pages to show him
before your guitar finds right tune.

You don’t have to re-arrange
your life to bring old humors
that go well with old wine.

Love is not intensified by your
actions or absence anymore. It’s just
an emoticon, multi-colored, heart-shaped
and blank, sent in bulk even when you
didn’t deserve it or desire to
stare at it to find reasons. In modern
world, they don’t sell meanings anymore,
or dig deeper to match with your spark.

Just Abe Yourself

In a day you want none,
and the time that you
crave makes a dull face.
You are not fun to be with.
You don’t gossip or say worse
things about better people.

There’s a hard shell that you
wear to protect yourself
from unpleasant weather
and pleasant intruders, and
sometimes you laugh alone
on the humor of your dry grief.

Know that, people hate that,
you’re unfriended, for now,
even though you shrunk
to make enough space for the
judgmental society that decides
to rotate around your solitude.

Scars and scarred of Love

Does anything
cut deeper than love?
Like glory, your scars
envelop your pride.
And the lessons you
learn are fluffy, left to
feed hungry philosophers,
and budding poets
who spend extra words
to seek meanings.

The Sunset

Some day it’s about the difference
between what I hear and what I see,
the grainy texture on the enlarged reality,
the gray things that sugary anecdotes hide.

Some day it’s about escaping to the ocean,
alone, because the world is preoccupied with
its lies and I’ve limited time for a true sunset.

This Is Why We Are Here

I put my head right in front of the blue light of the desktop screen,
my eyes set on various pages, one where the work is done, one where

the world makes friendship with perfect human beings, one where I secretly note
down grocery list and things that I have to finish before it’s too late.

The real windows of the room open to a green garden, a few hummingbirds chase
each other without knowing the world’s favorite words: stress, and to-do list;

for the life of eternity, they just have to be hummingbirds, beautiful
and carefree. I have been thinking: this is why we should be here. To look beautiful,

and untroubled. To call ourselves carefree, like we all are gifted that way.
On my way back home, I stop my car when a group of happy ducklings cross

the road. Their proud mother looks back and gazes at my mirror where
the shiny evening sun watches its reflection once a day. As if it’s a routine.

Sometimes when I do too many things, please people, nurture words like kindness,
caution, family, I wonder if this is why we are here. To tag along with that routine,

and imitate someone else’s biography. To pay back for everything unwanted given
to us. I think it again, and again while sipping the evening tea, and touching old

photographs from the family album. What I often miss. The genuine love.
A letter.  A kiss on the forehead right before the most difficult question-answer

round where all my answers will be judged. A salty simple curry when my sore throat
cannot swallow over-dried humors. I want some more, some more of those things.

Like the person who always wants numerous little things to make life a museum.
Maybe this is why we are here. To fulfill those secret wishes that no one has to notice.

To chase them like hummingbirds. And call them yearnings. We are collecting, striding,
looking back with our discontented eyes. We belong because of those longings.
